Frankenstein Part 1
So far I have read chapters 1-16 in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, to this point it seems like not a whole lot is going on in the story, however in these chapters you learn Victor Frankenstein's thoughts and his process on creating his creature. One thing I found to be very interesting is that the creature Victor creates is not known as Frankenstein like every movie has named him, actually he does not have a name at all to this point that is. Another traditional view people have perceived the creature to have is green skin. In the book Shelley clearly describes the creature to have yellow skin and is a super human. And he does not have bolts in his neck! When Victor creates his beast he is shocked at what he looks like, Victor locks up his creation and hides in his bedroom. But in my views would Victor really believe that his creation was going to be beautiful? I don't understand how you could if he took in my words recycled parts from other people. The day the monster breaks out of Victor's apartment and is roaming free. While he is doing so the beast is rejected by everyone he runs in to. Frightened the beast runs to the mountains to be in exile. On his way he finds a cabin where a small group of people live and he studies them in order to learn to speak. While he is doing so the monster also helped them to harvest their crops because it was too hard of the family to do, due to the ground being frozen. The beast has been looking for a moment to tell the family that he has been the one helping them and a moment comes when the old man is by his self. The beast approaches him and begins to speak to him, however the rest of the family unsuspectingly showed up and forced him out of their home. Angered the monster then goes to make a visit to Victor's family, and ends up killing Victor's little brother William, and Justine is blamed for the murder. Victor then travels to the glaciers where the beast is hiding and the beast then tells Victor the events of his life.
